Tatiana Galibus, Teacher in Training

Tanya or Tatiana Galibus (she/her)  identifies herself as a fluid unfolding Continuum of movement.
More formally, she is a dancer and performer born in Belarus and based in Brussels, initially trained as an Indian classical dancer with a degree in Bharatanatyam dance and theatre (Kalakshetra college of fine arts, Chennai) and from 2006 specialised in Afro-Cuban folk dance and singing, Cuban contemporary dance and Silvestre technique (Afro-Contemporary). She is a certified yoga instructor (Shiva Kendra school, Chennai) and recently completed her shamanic Reiki Usui Intichurin level 2 training. She is Continuum movement teacher in training and initiated practitioner of santeria religious tradition.
My core inquiry as an artist is about fluidity and ancestral tradition. I am fascinated by the guiding principles and forces in the Afrocuban traditional dance and theatre. That`s why my artistic method is named Fluid roots – an inquiry into a traditional dance form (roots), unfolding the layers of expression and evolution (fluidity). Its aesthetics is based on theatre anthropology or deconstruction of the traditional form in order to discover its fundamental energetic principles (sats, weight transfer, oppositions). It is a Continuum-informed collective dance improvisation. The form of dance is continuously dissolved/re-created and specific state of consiousness emerges in this process.
I teach afrocuban dance, yoga, and dance improvisation in Brussels under my project Fluid roots (@fluidrootsdance and @fluidrootsmovement). This year, I am introducing Continuum movement in Brussels in collaboration with local dance teachers and somatic educators.
I am passionate about astrology, salsa, and freediving (currently AIDA 2 certified). I hold PhD in cryptography and work at collective research center teaching cybersecurity.
