Introduction to Continuum Movement
August 28th, Saturday 12:30 - 6 :30 PM
Continuum uses sound, breath and non-patterned micro-movements to encourage creative exploration and change. Continuum is based on the fact that we are water and that activating and enlivening the fluid system allows for the possibility of personal transformation and healing. It is at once very simple and very powerful. By engaging the fluid system, psychological and physical blocks begin to dissolve, altering conditioned patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. An attempt is made to move beneath cultural influences. The essential elements of Continuum awaken a bio-intelligence that invites flexibility, fluidity, wholeness, and health. Why would you come to a Continuum session? · Self discovery and connection · To feel stronger, more supple and alive · To move, breathe, and sound with freedom and authenticity · To reduce conditioned patterns that thwart your happiness, energy, and creativity.
6 CE hours available for body workers, sponsored by Joyous Living Massage. Cost $80.
Opening the Psoas; A Continuum Approach
August 29h, Sunday 1:00 -5 :00 PM
The Psoas Muscle is the deepest core muscle and is vital to our well being. Basically a hip flexor, it also provides support for the organs and viscera. When the psoas is tight or short, it contributes to back pain, sciatic nerve problems, and reinforces fear patterns. Using a continuum approach, we will explore our relationship with the psoas in order to facilitate support and ease in our sitting, standing and moving experience.
4 CE hours available for body workers, sponsored by Joyous Living Massage. Cost $50.

Postural Support for Emotional Backing
Oct. 9-10,Sat/ Sun. 12:30 -6 :30 PM
It is challenging to maneuver our way through the inevitable difficulties of our daily lives. This workshop provides us with somatic practices and alignment assistance that act as supports for our ever changing emotional climate. Our response can be “ up and forward” or “down and back”, where gravity and earth provide us with safety and place of belonging. We will learn specific Continuum sequences to orient ourselves more deeply in our bodies, to awaken our potential for a greater presence, and to cultivate a more profound connection with the other.
12 CE hours available , sponsored by Joyous Living Massage. Cost $150.
Bones and Breath: Spirals of Health
November 7th, Sunday. 12:30PM - 6 :30PM
As time goes on, our bones become compromised, fragile, and dehydrated…resulting in compression and density. BUT, our bones are alive and fluid. They are regenerative, malleable, dynamic and responsive. Shifting our perception of bones from a dry, dense model to one of dynamic expressiveness will allow us to influence their status. We can, with enhanced consciousness and practice, alter their functioning and enrich our somewhat obscure relationship with the bones. Subsequently, all movement will become more fluid, as we stand, sit, walk, and mobilize ourselves in the world. We will begin a process to enliven the bones as we live “on land,” in communication with ourselves and others…in movement toward optimal health.
Breath is a potent tool as we can use it in a myriad of ways to nourish and replenish our bodies, and to perpetuate the innate, self-healing creative process. The spiraling dynamics of breath can dissolve rigid patterns and foster a more fluid, mutable structure. Exploring a variety of breath patterns, with increased states of attention, we enter the body’s internal landscape, mediate symptoms of pain, generate energy, and bring ourselves to a more “alive” place of being.
6 CE hours available for body workers, sponsored by Joyous Living Massage. Cost $80.
Continuum, Support for Daily Living in Asheville, NC
Oct. 15-17, 1 PM - 6:30 PM
In this workshop we will take a deeper look at ourselves, questioning what it is to have a body. The vitality of the individual is in large part determined by the dynamics of his or her fluid system. Aging, stress, overuse and injury contribute to tightness and limited expression. In order to function, we inadvertently maintain a fixed, often rigid structure that ultimately works against our overall health. In an effort to stay strong and flexible, we sometimes turn to physical practices that can help us stretch and release. However, with compressed, tight tissue, our efforts may result in mere displacement...pushing the body's density from one place to another.
In this workshop we will explore merging Continuum with your already existing physical activities, be they yoga, stretching, walking, strengthening, or practical daily tasks . Given liquidity, space, and freedom, the body moves towards its natural state of health. The creative process of continuum works to revitalize the fluid system and enliven the tissue. As the individual unleashes the energy held in his or her tissue, there is a dissolve of "personal paralysis," repetitive patterns are altered, and new ways of experiencing the body are possible. The integration of Continuum enriches one's daily practices and creates the opportunity for discovery, growth, and healing.
No experience necessary. Just come with a curiosity about a practice that increases vitality and creates ease of movement through a resonance with our bio-intelligence. For beginners, or for those who would like to have a deeper immersion with Continuum. 15 NCBTMB CE's are available for Massage Therapist. Cost: $275.

Chakras and Continuum; A Spiraling Journey; In Saxapahaw, NC
Oct. 23 and 24, 2010 Saturday 9:30 - 5:30 PM and Sunday 9:30 - 5:30 PM
In this class we will travel an ancient path and map of awakening called the Chakras using sacred myth, ritual, art and the healing modality of Continuum. Continuum is a modality that uses breath and sound to enliven a fluid bio-cellular dynamic. With this awakening, our boundaries become more mutable and adaptable, allowing more movement and space to arrive through wave motion. This facilitates a creative exploration and transformation of the person. One's conditioned way of being in the world can be altered and the constraints of psychological and physical biases dissolved. The engagement with the fluid system awakens a bio-intelligence that invites flexibility, fluidity, wholeness and health. We will use Continuum as a method to move through portals of consciousness called the chakras into greater personal health and well being.
In this class you will learn: · The seven major chakras: their associated colors, sounds, qualities expressed in the physical, emotional and psychological bodies. · How the breath, sound and fluid movements can clear your chakras and bring you into better health. · How to identify subtle energy awareness and assessment of it in your body. · How to create a Continuum Chakra self-care practice specific to you or your clients energetic needs.
Cost: $275. A $100 non-refundable registration fee is required. 14 NCBTMB CE's are available for Massage Therapist
