Daphne Georghiou – Continuum Movement Teacher

Continuum Movement

Daphne Georghiou, MFT, RSMT has been a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist with ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association) for several years. Daphne is an authorized Continuum Movement Teacher, by Continuum founder and somatic movement pioneer, Emilie Conrad. As a Halprin practitioner and an associate Tamalpa Institute teacher, Daphne’s work is deeply informed by the legendary Halprin Life-Art Process—a body and movement-based expressive arts therapy practice.

Daphne holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute—a Jungian and Depth psychology based school. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Pasadena, California. Please refer to her website for psychotherapy sessions: www.somaticpsyche.com.

As a psychotherapist and a somatic-based healer, Daphne additionally draws from her training and expertise as a Certified Acupressure Massage Therapist, a long-time trained energy/chakra awareness therapist, and a devout student of yoga, which she has been practicing for over 13 years.

In her Continuum workshops and private sessions, Daphne utilizes Jungian alchemical symbolism and imagery to enhance student understanding, experiential process, and creative body reenactments.

What Daphne’s clients have said about her:

“Daphne helps me to be me. She creates an incredibly open, safe fertile ground/space where my dance and my being can play deep, heal, and then teach me. Daphne is completely present with me and I feel so whole-heartedly listened to, witnessed, and affirmed. Sometimes she sees me better than I see myself. Our work together has gotten me through life lessons that felt overwhelming, in a way that became poetic, sweet, and filled with light!”
Camille Dieterle, OTD, OTR/L Director, OT Faculty Practice, USC, Los Angeles.

“Daphne shares all her gifts when she facilitates this work, offering her skill and grace. she is also a very generous and joyful person, who makes you feel safe and ready to dive in fully. she guides with a wisdom that comes from her own deep connection to the source of movement, dance, voice, and the mystery of the body’s impulses and ancient language.”
Cheryl Banks-Smith, dance educator, choreographer–Pasadena City College.
